Guitar Ensemble Charity Spring Concert

The Windsor Classical Guitar Ensemble held its Summer Concert on the 19th June. We had one of largest audiences we've ever heard. We played for an hour including some modern and classical pieces spanning Ravel to Giltrap.

The concert was free, but a voluntary collection for charity was taken. This term we collected on behalf of the Ukrainian families that have been forced to flee from their home country and are now staying in Windsor.

The Windsor Classical Guitar Ensemble held its Christmas Concert on the 11th December. The concert had the biggest audience yet through a combination of live attendance and Zoom. The ensemble played a number of group pieces and many of the ensemble also played a solo. The ensemble exists to encourage local players and raise the profile of the guitar. The versatility and range of timbre of the guitar were on full display, with a wide range of tempo and styles, from the heat of Spanish flamenco to the snowy delights of a swinging Christmas.

We would like to thank Windsor Baptist Church for hosting the concert. They provided a wonderful hospitality team who supplied coffees and teas before the concert.

The concert was free, but a voluntary collection for charity was taken. £135 has been raised for the Samaritans of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.

Guitar Ensemble relauched with Summer Concert

The Windsor Classical Guitar Ensemble held its first concert since 2019. The ensemble entertained for an hour with a mixture of solos, duets and full ensemble pieces. The music was a mixture of old and new, and it gave the Ensemble the feeling of being re-launched. A good time was had by all, and the feedback form the audience that that it was inspirational and a great way to mark the end of COVID-restrictions and the re-launch of the Ensemble.

All our concerts are free to enter, but we do give people an opportunity to give a donation to a charity of the Ensemble's choice. This time, the Ensemble wanted to raise money for the children's charity Variety and their Sunshine Coach initiative. The concert raised £110 for this worthwhile cause.

2020 and Covid 19

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation, the Windsor Classical Guitar Ensemble was not able to meet in 2020. Instead we tried a few small projects based on recording and mixing the results.

Carol service appearance

The ensemble made an appearance at the Windsor Baptist Church Carol Service on the 15th December, 2019. It performed the Carol of the Bells, by Mykola Leontovych, which went down so well as the encore of the winter concert. Many thanks to the Windsor Baptist Church for making us so welcome at their service.
